Last week, the fastMOT consortium held its second in-person meeting at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Castelldefels, a coastal suburb of Barcelona. The gathering brought together all partners of the project to welcome new staff members, foster team cohesion, and tackle critical discussions regarding the project’s detector technology.
Day 1: Delving into technicalities and finding common ground
The first day was dedicated to intense discussions on technical questions. The aim was to establish a unified understanding and common ground for the upcoming phases of the development of the project’s device. From the very beginning, the team engaged in dynamic and interactive dialogues, capitalizing on the unique opportunity to be in the same room. These lively debates were not just about exchanging ideas but also about sparking innovation and finding practical solutions. By the end of the day, the team had collectively decided on the next steps forward, setting a clear path for the project’s progression.
In the evening, the team celebrated their productive day at a typical Chiringuito by the beach. They enjoyed tapas and traditional dishes while taking in the breathtaking view of the ocean, a perfect setting to unwind and reflect on the day’s achievements.
Day 2: Progress updates and future planning
The second day commenced with updates from the leaders of each Work Package. These updates provided insights into the progress made over the past months and highlighted the hard work of each team. Following these updates, the consortium reviewed upcoming deadlines and planned the next steps to ensure the project stays on track.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the Medical Optics Lab at ICFO. The two days left all participants feeling inspired and motivated, reaffirming their commitment to the project’s primary goal: innovating medical imaging.
